The 4th edition of the Smart Ticketing and Digital Services Forum was successfully held in Budapest on the 31st of May and 1st of June 2018. More than 70 participants took part in the two days gathering dedicated to smart mobility, ticketing and digitalization. Once more the forum confirmed its leading position in the CEE region. Participants received insights into the regional mobility policies and their challenges. Regional projects like in Budapest, Szeged, Ostrava and Galati have been outlined. Success stories of mobile ticketing from Norway, Mexico and Switzerland have been presented as well as first steps in Open Source ticketing under the brand Keyple. Current trends like blockchain and MaaS have been openly discussed and analyzed in their relevance for the sector and upcoming policies. The forum identified challenges of digitalization, the partial lack of roadmaps to integrate new players and adapt to new business models in the wider ecosystem of public transport. Findings of the forum will provide participants new views on the shaping of future forms of mobility. The organizers look forward to the fifth edition of the Budapest forum in 2019.
