CNA at the 12th ITS European Congress

Calypso Networks Association (CNA) is delighted to announce its participation to the coming major event in Europe: the 12th ITS European Congress.

This event will take place in the Strasbourg Congress Center from June 19th to June 22nd

The main theme of the Congress, “ITS Beyond Borders”, is of the utmost relevance for all of us. The single market, an area without internal borders with the free movement of goods, persons, services and capital, can only be achieved when we work together to remove technical and regulatory barriers. Breaking down such barriers is also at the heart of the deployment of ITS. In order to be effective, the roll-out of ITS needs to be coherent and properly coordinated across the EU by public and private bodies. ‘ITS Beyond Borders’ should not only represent the interoperability and continuity of ITS between regions and Member States but also between different modes of transport facilitating multimodality.

CNA is working on the question of interoperability by proposing a standard designed for the intermodality, with different solutions such as Triangle, but also mobile solutions… For more than two decades CNA has successfully promoted an open, secure, interoperable, multiservice and multiprovider solution for a contactless ticketing.

We will be glad to welcome you on CNA booth – S14- to talk about the Calypso technology and learning more about our different projects as SDK, HCE and the Calypso Light Application... Discover how it became the main public transport standard adopted in Europe, Canada and North Africa.

We hope to meet you soon in Strasbourg!

Calypso, your key for mobility, designed for smart cities.

Big success for the 3rd Smart Ticketing&Digital Services Forum

CNA successfully organized the 3rd edition of the Smart Ticketing & Digital Services Forum, Budapest, 8-9 June 2017

More than 60 participants from over 15 EU and non-EU countries gathered at the 3rd edition of the Forum, one of the largest Ticketing events in Europe to debate about digitalization, the importance of standards, multi-applications and security.

The Forum kicked-off with a presentation of major digitalization projects across Hungary, the host country of the event. Various challenges and technical solutions for mobile ticketing have been presented and afterwards debated within a panel moderated by Zehra Chudry from GSMA. The first day ended with various insights on the funding opportunities for digitalization projects from the institutional side (EBRD), commercial (OTP Bank) and PPP (Rigaskarte).

The Forum 2nd day has been marked by the presentation of the global initiative to promote interoperability, Smart Ticketing Alliance, and the importance of certification. Various EU digitalization projects from Slovenia (Ministry of Infrastructure), Czech Republic, Lviv city and Romanian railways have been presented and debated with the public. A large panel on the various ticketing systems (account based, mobile, EMV), managed by Soren Sorensen (SMFCON) closed the day.

Among the main conclusions of the Forum we can mention the importance of ticketing alternatives based on open, non-proprietary solutions, the role of public transport to ease the life of passengers through multi-applications and shared media, and the importance of economic and cultural conditions of each city that need to be taken into account when deciding for a ticketing technology.

Last, the Forum represented the context in which important actors such as BKK (Budapest) and Romanian Railways shared with the public their news and latest projects. Miklós Kacskovics, Information Technology Project Manager at BKK Budapesti Közlekedési Központ - Centre for Budapest Transport, announced that in 2017 "the inhabitants of Hungary will have the possibility to validate on buses and the metro with their new e-ID card". Provided by Scheidt & Bachmann, the new automated fare collection, account based, is designed to integrate Open Payment and is compliant with NFC technology.

We thank our sponsors moovel Group GmbH, Wizway, eos.uptrade, highQ, Infineon, AQUIS Innovo and Oberthur Technologies for the successful deployment of the Forum and we look forward to meet you at the 4th edition in June 2018!
